ARE YOU READY TO TAKE YOUR DRIVING TEST?
The DVSA have set out this 5 point plan to make sure you're ready to take your driving test!

You’ll only be 100% ready to take your driving test when :

1. You don't need prompts from your instructor. You need to be dealing with every part of driving constantly and confidently without any help from your driving instructor. You’ll be ready for your test when you can easily adapt to situations whilst keeping calm and keeping in full control of the vehicle.

2. You don't make serious or dangerous miscalculations when you ’re driving. You need to be a good and safe motorist to pass the test. You will not be ready to pass your test and drive on your own if you ’re making serious or dangerous miscalculations and brushing them off as ‘ silly mistakes’.

3. You can pass mock driving tests. Taking and passing mock driving tests will give you a real understanding of how the tests are conducted and the standard required to pass.

4. You do not let your nerves get the better of you. Easier said than done, I know, but if you practice mock tests this will help you prepare best for your big day.

It’s really important to manage your nerves to be a safe motorist. Practise ways of managing your jitters to help you stay calm and concentrated when you take your test. This will help you be a safe driver for life.

5. Your teacher agrees you are ready. If your instructor thinks that you are not ready you should look t rebooking your test or taking more lessons. Driving instructors are trained road safety experts. They ’ve got lots of driving experience – and they know what it takes to pass the driving test. They want you to be a safe motorist, and to enjoy driving for many years!
